Course & Qualifications

Courses
In the Sixth Form we offer a wide range of courses at different levels. Table 1 shows what type of course are at each of the different levels.

Level 2
Some students who have not achieved 5 A* -C grades at GCSE may wish to improve their qualifications by selecting Level 2 courses such as GCSE’s, GNVQ’s or BTEC First Diplomas. These courses are run for 1 year and after they are completed the students can progress on to A Levels or go on to employment.

“On From 1”
If you’re not sure if you want to stay on at school, go to college or find a full time job, then the “On From 16” scheme is for you. “On From 16” is the new shared Level 2 curriculum programme in Crawley which gives you access to a wider range of courses, allowing you to ‘mix and match’ courses to give you a tailor made programme of study whilst continuing to receive the support and guidance from your ‘home’ school.

If you are interested then you need to decide which school ‘home’ base best suits you, choose the courses you want to study and apply early to your ‘home’ school.

Level 3
Most students who stay on in the sixth form will normally select a programme of four Advance Subsidiary (AS) courses from the wider range available. The second year of study enables the students to gain full A Levels in these subjects with the added flexibility to drop to three or pick up a new AS.

Each AS/A Level carries points. The amount of points you get depends on your results at the end of the course. If you apply for a Degree, each individual University will say how many points they require for you to do the course. Table 2 shows the value of
points for each course.
