We warmly invite Year 8 Parents to attend the Year 8 GCSE Options Evening on Thursday 25th January at 6pm.
The decision that your child is about to make is crucial, since it will determine their course of study for their GCSE and BTEC courses over the next three years. This will be an important opportunity for you and your child to get some advice that will help to guide their choices in order to ensure that he/she chooses the courses that will suit them best.
On this evening, there will be a brief presentation in the main hall at 6pm and again at 7pm (if required), you will also be able to speak with subject leaders about the demands and content of their GCSE and Vocational courses. There will be the opportunity to consult with a careers advisor and take part in a future career paths computer programme throughout the evening. Mr Curran, the Options and Pathways Co-ordinator will be available to assist with the use of this.
I have also attached to this letter an example of the GCSE options form. Please familiarise yourself with the form, as this will be similar to the one which the students use. It will also be included in the options booklet which will be available on the options evening.
Finally, if you are attending the Parents Evening tomorrow, Thursday 11th January, you are more than welcome to ask Mr Pittaway or any member of staff questions regarding GCSE/Vocational options.
We thank you in advance for your continued support and look forward to seeing you on the 25th January.
