Grade 4 in GCSE History

Course Overview

This is a fascinating and challenging course which offers students the opportunity to study British and World History in both depth and breadth. The course includes units focused on Early Modern British and European history, as well as 20th Century Germany studies. The course provides opportunities to develop academic skills ranging from research, document analysis and essay writing to questioning skills, critical thinking and organisation of information and debate. The personal study element allows students to demonstrate a greater degree of flair and independence, with in-depth research and analysis of an historical topic of students own choice.

Unit 1: Early Stuarts and The English Civil War (25%) 

Unit 2: Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany 1918-1963 (15%)

Unit 3: Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries (40%)

Unit 4: Independent Study - Student free choice ( 20%)
