Options, Pathways and Careers 2015-16 Overview

This is an overview of just some of our wide and varied event activities from the last academic year.

Options & Pathways

  • WP presence at all Parents’ and Open / Options evenings
  • WP (UoB Compact), all day – “Humanities Day” (10 x Y12 students)
  • 25th November, 5.30-7.30pm – Nuffield celebrations (Carla Tsoungui and Reece Fraser, both accepted onto STEM-related courses at university)
  • 27th November, all day (Progress Review Day 1) - Careers Fair (education and employment sectors)
  • 13th January, all day (FirstGen, Sussex WP) – 15 x Y8 students on STEM-based “Star gazing” taster day
  • 20th January, all day (FirstGen, Sussex WP) – 15 x Y8 students on multi subject taster day
  • 28th January,  6-8pm – Y8 Options Evening, including NCS webinars
  • 29th January, all day – 15x Y11 students to Chichester College (Brinsbury Campus)
  • 16th March, 10am – 12pm (Progress Review Day 2) – Central Sussex, Chichester, Plumpton colleges and apprenticeships on site
  • 12th April, all day – all Y7 on WP RAP visits to Brighton, Sussex and Chichester universities
  • 18th May, all day (FirstGen, Sussex WP) – 15 x Y7 students on STEM-based “Star gazing” taster day
  • Summer 2016 – WP Y10/11 and Y12 Summer Schools
  • 19th – 21st July – ‘Enrichment Week’ for Y10 – over 40 professionals giving careers advice and guidance; visits to Brighton and Chichester universities and Chichester College (Brinsbury Campus)
  • Rewards (Apprenticeships) Training Recruitment Agency attended both key stage 4 and 5 Results Days

As well as ongoing schemes:

  • BrightMed (Brighton and Sussex Medical School) – Saturday workshops and mentoring programme for 13 x Y9-11 students
  • Brightside mentoring (6 week Spring term) – ‘online’ professional / undergrad mentoring for 13 x Y12 students
  • WP (UoB Compact),  Fashion Saturday School (3xY9 plus 1xY10 students)
  • WP (UoB Compact), Fashion programme for Y6 Art & Media students (6 x 2 hour sessions plus fashion-focused visit)
  • CREST Awards – KS4 and 5 (as well as 14 x Y8 and Y9 students during ‘Enrichment Week’) - “Zoetropes”
