Entry Requirements: 

The qualification is for students who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in GCSE Maths. It can only be taken as part of the Level 3 programme, therefore grade 4-9 is required in five subjects other than Maths.

Course Overview: 

This course is for those students who have failed to reach a grade 4 at GCSE Mathematics. Students who also wish to improve their GCSE grade can also retake, however this will be discussed in individual cases. The course reinforces and builds upon the mathematics knowledge that students have gained at school.

The method of delivery will utilise Blended Learning. Students will be expected to access resources or online support independently.

Duration: 1 year   
Exam Board: Edexcel  Foundation                                        

Those students who achieved a Grade 3 at GCSE Mathematics will be given the option to enter in November.

Paper 1 – Non-Calculator   
Paper 2 – Calculator            
Paper 3 – Calculator            

Qualification Gained: 

Edexcel GCSE Mathematics or
AQA Level 2 Functional Skills qualification in Mathematics

Career Opportunities: 

Most employers, colleges and universities will require all students to have achieved a Grade 4 or even a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics. This course is also important for those students who need to improve their foundations at GCSEs so they can progress on Level 3 qualifications.
