Entry Requirement: 

Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature
Grade 5 GCSE  in English Language.

Course Overview:

English Literature is a fascinating and rewarding subject which allows students to explore the ‘big ideas’ about who humans are and how we behave. Students can pursue their own theories about texts and develop a personal          engagement with the literature studied. English Literature also allows students to develop their own understanding of the cultural, intellectual and social context that surrounds the drama, poetry and prose from a wide range of historical periods.

English Literature helps to develop the analytical and critical skills necessary for a wide range of further study. It can be used in combination with a wide range of other subjects and is a widely respected qualification.

Duration: 2 Years
Exam Board: AQA             

AS Level English Literature A 7711 / AS Exam in summer of year 12
A Level English Literature A 7712 / A Level Exam in summer of year 13
NEA (Coursework) 20% of A Level mark

Qualification Gained: 

A Level in English Literature.

Career Opportunities: 

A Level English can lead to university courses in English, History, Law and Journalism amongst others. It is relevant to a wide range of career paths, including education, law, the media and journalism.
