Entry Requirements: 

Grade 4 in GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature and
Grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics or
Level 2 merit in Cambridge National Certificate in ICT (or equivalent)

Course Overview: 

This course is designed with those students in mind who have a love for ICT and who want to learn in a practical way that’s directly related to the IT sector. The course will give you a range of specialist knowledge and transferable skills which will provide you with the opportunity to either enter an apprenticeship, move directly into employment or progress to a related Higher Education (HE) course – the options are open. 

Exam Information: 

Duration: 2 years 
Exam Board: OCR                                                                                  

The course comprises 5 units across the two years:

2 Mandatory units         - Unit 1 - Fundamentals of IT
                                     - Unit 2 - Global Information       
3 Optional units            - Unit 3 - Cyber Security , exam
                                     - Unit 6 - Application Development, coursework
                                     - Unit 17 - The Internet of Everything, coursework

Qualification Gained: 

On successful completion of this course you will gain the “Cambridge Technical Level 3  Introductory Diploma in IT ” which is a qualification recognised by many universities alongside A Levels.

Each unit is graded Pass, Merit and Distinction which combine to give an overall grade.  

Career Opportunities: 

The skills and knowledge gained on the course can lead to a variety of jobs/careers  in the world of IT including Junior Web Application Developer, Junior Application Developer, Junior Software Analyst,  Technical support, digital technologies, application development or data analysis.

There is also the opportunity to progress onto a Level 4 apprenticeship such as Network Engineer or Software Developer.  The opportunities that this course provides are endless.
