Please check what the latest Covid-19 rules are while using the Library Reading Room.
During the above times, students are welcome to: use the computers for work, read, do other work, volunteer, use it as a calm space and of course borrow/return/renew library books.
The LRC and Reading Room holds over 10,000 resources including: fiction titles for all reading abilities, non-fiction books to support the curriculum, non-fiction titles to support students’ extra curricular and leisure interests. The school also offers over 2,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks, provided by Wheelers ePlatform which can be accessed via computers, smart phones or tablets.
All students have access to the Library Reading room during break & lunch-times and after school.
Monday to Friday after school from 3:45pm to 4:45pm when Learning Support Assistants are available to assist students with homework.
Students are issued with a library card enabling them to borrow up to 5 items for 2 weeks. Items may be renewed if not reserved by another pupil. Students may suggest items that they would like to see added to stock.
Library/LRC staff aims to promote reading for pleasure and to raise the profile of reading. The school librarians regularly organise reader development activities such as book fairs, competitions and author visits. Library/LRC staff are always happy to assist students in the selection of reading material.
Students have access to Accessit, the computerised catalogue, which they can use to look up the resources that we hold and whether they are available, to see recent additions to stock and to reserve items. Accessit also offers a communication channel from library staff to students, including signposting to online resources, study skills, research skills and much more! For more information, check out the library catalogue yourself: https://uk.accessit.online/ifl00/.
