Welcome to Ifield Community College. We are delighted that you are joining ICC, and in order to help you and your child prepare for transition to secondary school, we want to do everything we can to make this a happy and smooth process.
We have had to adjust the way we deliver our transition programme due to the Covid infection rates rising locally and on advice from Paul Wagstaff, West Sussex Director of Education that we should not be running larger whole school events which bring large numbers of children and parents together (Click here to view letter).
We would therefore like to offer you and child the following:
We are saddened that we can no longer offer you the opportunity of visiting the school to meet the Headteacher Mr. Corbett, key staff, and try on uniform. In place of this evening we have two virtual videos for you to view.
We have moved the transition day from Wednesday 7thJuly to Friday the 3rd September to ensure your child has a smooth and enjoyable transition into ICC.
- Only Year 7 students will be attending on this day.
- Students will be expected to attend from 8:15am to ensure a prompt start to the school day.
- They will need to be in full uniform.
- Classroom equipment will also be required (info in handbook and on website).
- We will be providing lunch, however, we ask that you supply your child with a light snack, and drink for break time (crisps, sugary snacks or fizzy drinks are not permitted).
- The school day will finish at 2:45pm.
- All gates to the school site will be open in the morning and at the end of the day.
Appointments to meet with your child’s Progress Mentor will now be held virtually and are bookable though Parents’ Evening System https://ifieldcc.schoolcloud.co.uk/.
Appointments will go live on Tuesday 29th June at 1pm.
Only parents/carers who are listed as priority one/two contacts will be able to gain access to the portal, and you must use the contact details that you provided to us on your admissions form.
A guide to your 9 minute appointment can be found on the following links:
Please note, that if you delay starting a virtual call it does not extend the duration for that appointment. The appointment will always end at the scheduled time.
All information to booking and attending appointments can be found on our website
If you need further help and assistance in booking your appointments, please email email@example.com
We absolutely understand that you may have queries or concerns associated with the move to a remote transition process and what this could mean for your child. To view our school uniform policy, click here. Please can we bring to your attention that students are not to attend school with any ear, facial or body piercings, they are considered a Health and Safety risk. If a student comes into school wearing any piercing item, the student will be asked to remove it, regardless of when the piercing was done.
School Bags and Other Equipment
Parents/Carers will appreciate that text books are costly so it is important that each student should be equipped with a large strong bag. You are asked to ensure that it is not over-sized but large enough to take a fair number of books and A4 ring binders without bending or distortion.
Backpacks and messenger bags are our preferred style.
Students are required to have pencil case to carry their equipment. This should contain a minimum of a black and a green pen, pencil, ruler, eraser and a protractor. Students can use their own coloured pencils and felt tips. Black pens are required for all written work and examinations. (A clear pencil case is required for mock and external exams only).
It is essential students have a scientific calculator for their lessons. Aurora AX-595TV is the brand we use in school.
Students can purchase pencil cases containing equipment and scientific calculators from our Reprographics Department at a lower price than high street prices.
