The Russell Martin Academy Football Development Programme

The Russell Martin Academy Football Development programme is an outstanding opportunity for young talented footballers between the ages of 16-19 to continue their academic and footballing career development.

We are running this programme at two colleges to cover East Sussex and West Sussex:

At Ifield Community College (West Sussex) Our players will study a double OCR Level 3 diploma in sport. They will also have the option to take OCR science or other A level courses if they wish. At Ifield community college we will also be running a female players programme for girls of all abilities.

At Varndean College (East Sussex) our players will study a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport. They will also having the option of taking the extended level 3 if they decide to do this and remain in the programme for a third year. There is also flexibility for players who want to study particular A levels.

Both programmes provide the chance for players to combine an intensive 11-a-side football training and college fixture programme with showcase games against professional teams during the season.

Both programmes will include:

•Full time training programme on grass and 3G pitches.

•Strength and conditioning programmes with good gym facilities.

•Study for FA Level 1 coaching certificates. •Study for Sports leaders award. These programmes will be led by Ex professional players with assistant coaches. All hold UEFA B and A license qualifications. Russell Martin (Norwich City Captain and Scotland international) will also be down to take regular sessions with the players.
