We warmly invite parents, carers and students to attend the Year 8 GCSE Options Evening on Thursday 6th February at 5pm.
The decision that your child is about to make is important, since it will determine their course of study for their GCSE and Vocational courses over the next three years. This will be a valuable opportunity for you and your child to get some advice that will help to guide their choices in order to ensure that they choose the courses that will suit them best.
On this evening, there will be a brief presentation in the main hall at 5pm and again at 6pm (if required), you will also be able to speak with subject leaders about the demands and content of their GCSE and Vocational courses. You will also be given guidance regarding completing the online options process and how to register.
Before Christmas Mr Corbett wrote to parents/carers to advise of a couple of changes to the options process from previous years, to clarify:
The EBacc qualification shows a student’s ability to learn a range of subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, History or Geography and a language) and subsequently all students will be required to choose History or Geography. Additionally all higher ability students, those with an average KS2 score of 105+, will be guided to study a language and all other students are recommended to carefully consider the benefit of following a language where suitable.
We thank you in advance for your continued support and look forward to seeing you on the 30th January & 6th February for these important evenings for year 8’s and their futures.
